The Viral Script Writing Formula For YouTube
Thumbnail:
- Before you create your script make sure you have a great title and thumbnail in place.
- The title and thumbnail are going to inform what your script actually says; so make sure it generates at least 3 interesting questions. We will use these questions later on.
The H.I.V.E Framework (Hook, Intro, Value, Endscreen)
Hook:
- Choose from one of three hooks:
- Question hook: Ask the audience a question they want to know the answer to.
- Context hook: Drop the audience into the most exciting part of your video.
- Statement hook: Start with a bold statement (which you can backup)
Intro:
- After your hook you need to do two things:
- Give context: Take the three questions you created from your thumbnail earlier, and use these questions to provide context to the video. Just answer those questions in a couple of sentences
- Exceed expectations: Make sure your video then exceeds the expectations of your viewers. Do this by letting them know how much effort you’ve put into the video, or offer a free download or let them know your credibility in the area.
Value:
- This is where you deliver on what you promised in the hook and intro.
- Generally ‘list’ format videos work best e.g. 5 ways to do X, or 7 simple methods to do Y
- When delivering your points make sure your payout is at the end of the point. The structure of your points should be as follows:
- Point 1:
- Re-Hook viewer
- Tell a story
- Payout
- Point 2:
- Re-Hook Viewer
- Tell a story
- Payout
- Point 3:
- Re-Hook Viewer
- Tell a story
- Payout
- Point 1:
Endscreen:
- Guide your audience to watch another one of your videos. Don’t just ask them to subscribe, but tell them why watching X video on your channel will benefit them.
